Platform guidance

Media metadata: useful workflow data, not a hidden SEO shortcut

XMP and IPTC metadata are useful, but published search guidance does not support stuffing hidden video metadata as a ranking mechanism.

What the tools support

Professional production software can preserve and edit metadata such as XMP. Google also documents IPTC image metadata for creator, credit and licensing information.

What is not established

Embedding large keyword lists into exported media files is not documented by Google as a direct ranking shortcut.

Ozmov practice

Preserve useful production and rights metadata, but put search effort into the visible page, relevant copy, captions, thumbnails, structured data and accessible media delivery.

Verify it yourself

Where an official source exists, use the source above or search the source title directly. Ozmov separates documented platform guidance from our practical interpretation.
